DESCRIPTION DESCRIPTION

Ask any traditional ghee-maker and they'll tell you the diet of the cow shows up directly in the jar. Grass-fed ghee is lighter, earthy, clean. Grain-fed ghee is something else: richer, denser, with a fullness in flavour that you notice the moment it hits hot dal.

This is Satv Dairy's Desi Cow A2 Bilona Ghee Grain-Fed. Our indigenous cows are fed a carefully planned farm diet of chana, binola, bajra, wheat daliya, gur, natural oils, and mineral nutrition no commercial ready-made cattle feed. That diet shows up in the milk, and the milk shows up in the ghee.

The process is the same traditional Bilona route: fresh A2 milk → curd → hand-churned in earthen pots using a wooden bilona → white makhan → slow-heated in stages into pure golden ghee. It takes 35–40 litres of milk to produce just 1 kg. Nothing is padded, nothing is added.

Naturally lactose-free, no trans fats, gluten-free. One ingredient: Vedic Bilona A2 White Makhan. That's the whole list.

35–40L milk for just 1 kg ghee
~30g monounsaturated good fats per serve
4g polyunsaturated fats per serve
12mo shelf life, no refrigeration

BENEFITS BENEFITS

1. Richer than grass-fed by design:

  • Grain-fed milk has naturally higher milk solids. The ghee that comes from it is noticeably denser, fuller in flavour, and has a more satisfying mouthfeel. Same Bilona process different character.

2. Good fats your body actually uses:

  • Around 30g monounsaturated and 4g polyunsaturated fats per serving the kind that support brain function, heart health, and cell repair. Not all fat is the same; these are the ones worth eating.

3. Especially good for children under 5:

  • Grain-fed A2 bilona ghee has been a staple in Indian children's diets for generations and for good reason. The fat profile directly nourishes the developing brain and nervous system. A small spoon daily in dal or roti is enough.

4. Supports digestion and gut lining:

  • Traditional Ayurvedic use has always valued ghee for lubricating the gut, supporting the intestinal walls, and aiding absorption of nutrients. Not a medicine but a real daily food with genuine digestive benefits.

5. Naturally lactose-free:

  • The multi-stage slow-heating process removes all milk solids. What's left is pure fat no lactose, no casein.

6. Cruelty-free, ethically made:

  • No oxytocin, no hormones, calf feeds first always. Hand-churned in earthen pots by hand, not by machines. Ethically produced vedic A2 bilona ghee — the process matters as much as the product.
HOW IT'S MADE HOW IT'S MADE

Four steps. No shortcuts.

1. Fresh A2 milk:

  • Grain-fed desi cows, own farm, milked same morning.

2. Cultured to curd:

  • Naturally set overnight with traditional starter.

3. Wooden bilona churning:

  • Hand-churned in earthen pots — white makhan rises.

4. Slow-heated to ghee:

  • Makhan heated in stages — pure golden ghee, filtered, packed.

FAQS FAQS

1. What's the real difference between grain-fed and grass-fed bilona ghee?

  • Same Bilona process, same desi cow breeds, same farm only the diet differs. Grain-fed cows (chana, bajra, daliya, gur)produce milk with naturally higher solids, so the ghee is richer, denser, anddeeper in flavour. Grass-fed ghee is lighter with a more earthy taste. Neitheris better it's a preference.

2. Is this ghee good for young children?

  • Yes, this is actually one of the most common reasons people specifically choose grain-fed ghee..

3. Why does it take 35–40 litres of milk to make just 1 kg?

  • Because the Bilona process is genuinelyinefficient and that's the point. Milk becomes curd, curd is churned and mostlybecomes buttermilk, only the fat rises as makhan, and that makhan is thenheated until all moisture and milk solids are removed.

4. Is it really lactose-free?

Yes. The slow multi-stage heating removes all milk solids and lactose.

5. Does it contain trans fats?

  • No. Naturally zero trans fats and gluten-free.

6. My ghee turned solid and grainy — is it okay?

  • Completely fine it's what genuine desi cow bilona ghee does in cooler temperatures.

7. Does it need refrigeration?

  • No. Store in a cool dry place, always use a clean dry spoon, keep the lid closed.
